What was needed |
| |
|
|
| |
|
Inovica were contacted by an internal managing group
representing three large corporations working jointly
to rebuild part of an oil refinery in the Shetland
Islands. Because of a tight timescale they required
a project management extranet that could be rolled
out within a few weeks to let the managers communicate
with each other and with all stakeholders of the project
(both in the Shetlands as well as at Head Office in
London). The tool they required had to fulfil the
following criteria:
- To upload documents to the system on a daily basis
to show the progress of the work
- To generate reports on a timed basis that could be
emailed to all stakeholders
- To provide a directory system so that any project
member could find and communicate with another member
very quickly
- To provide an overview of the project
- To only be accessible to key personnel, so security
was a factor

What we did |
| |
|
|
| |
|
After a brief site visit to the
Shetland Islands, we tasked our staff with developing
the required programming whilst we worked on various designs
to show the client. Within a week we had a design accepted
and had transferred this into a template system ready
for the programming to be integrated. The programming
was integrated just after two weeks, and we were ready
to launch the site, after testing, just after the three
week stage. |

The result |
| |
|
|
| |
|
The site was passed over to the
BP, Amec and Cape management for their control. As it
is an entirely closed extranet we are unable to show a
live version, but are more than happy to demonstrate the
system to anyone who is interested. |
